The Bay Horse Inn

A kitchen fire in Autumn 2016 forced the Bay Horse to close. The owners wanted to sell it for residential development, but fearing they would lose their pub forever, the villagers stepped in and raised almost half a million pounds to purchase the property.

Volunteers worked tirelessly to repair and renovate the building, and the new tenants have refitted and refurbished throughout.

The investors didn’t want to try and run a pub and restaurant themselves, so they looked for a partner to take on that role as a commercial opportunity.

Chris and Adrienne Swarbrick moved to the village in 2010, and their sons Joe & Jack have both worked in hospitality for years. They presented a business plan to the investors, who saw a perfect opportunity for a family living in the village to run the village-owned pub.

Jack has now been joined full time by Joe to run the business, supported by assistant GM Brett Nichols, Adrienne & Chris and their great team.
